My Vacation on Lens
Let me tell you about a trip I went to last weekend. Cagayan de Oro and Camiguin were the places we went to and both had their specialties. Cagayan de oro offered rafting, zip lines and rappelling activities where everyone had fun. Camiguin had White Island. This island doesn’t have trees or any form of shade so going here was for the love of the sun. The brightness of the sun bounces off the sand to blind you and this was no torture at all. ‘Katibawasan’ falls was another destination where everyone dipped and had fun because the water was cold and dropped from a very high place thus the sprinkle of water all over the place will make you wet even if you are a little far from the water. The Sunken Cemetery was also a sight but not for the dead but rather for corals and fish since it is now a reserve for marine life but prior to that stood a cemetery for the Spanish colonizers but sank after the volcano blew during the 1800s. The old church ruins proved that it too was still a sight in spite of its age that was proven by the materials used in the walls: corals, limestone and egg since cement was not yet available back then. Roots have also crawled on the walls. This was truly a sight for culture and tradition. Transportation in Camiguin was mainly jeep where you can also sit on top to enjoy the breeze.
A boat was required to go to Camiguin from Cagayan de Oro and vice versa. These boats were called RORO (roll on roll off) since vehicles can also ride these boats to make it to the other island. As these ROROs dock, children swim towards the boat to climb to the top and jump from one RORO to another which is quite dangerous but they are so used to it.
Enjoy the pictures and don’t get lost!
