My Thoughts on the First 100 Days

    My thoughts:

For congeniality, he receives a grade of A.  He is a great role model for an American family and is very well received by foreign leaders.  He seems to be a great representative of the United States abroad.

In his campaign, we were promised transparency.  Although he has released memos regarding CIA torture methods, which probably shouldn't have been released as it is a sensitive matter of national security, we have not seen too much transparency as far as how bailout money is being used (until after a red flag is raised) or the public review of legislation before signed into law.

As far as bipartisanship, there hasn't been too much of it because the Democratic majority Congress seems to pass everything with no Republican support.  Therefore, even though there's no need to reach across the isle, there should be an effort to bring everyone together to work on REAL solutions.  C-

As for "Mr. Fix It", responsible for fixing the many issues impacting our country, I give a grade of C.  There are a lot of issues, but some are more critical than others.  Focusing on really imporant issues and working towards both short and long-term solutions seems to be lacking.  Further, not all of the quick fixes, especially with unemployment, housing, and COBRA are not all-inclusive.  Many families, such as ours (disabled, unemployed since January 2008, facing foreclosure), are left out of the plans because of the haste in which they were written.  COBRA subsidies since September 2008 is not acceptable because many families have been out of work much longer since the recession started in December 2007.  Also, I really question why some people were picked for some cabinet positions.

Although the president was deeply involved in drafting such legislation, I give Congress a grade of F for allowing such poorly written, non-inclusive, and loopholed legistlation to pass through.  Further, WHY has there been such a hold-up on confirmations?  Was the Secretary of Health and Human Services only confirmed because of the Swine Flu outbreak?

Finally, I give President Obama a grade of B on the issue of national security.  His handling of the pirated ship was well handled and executed.

I look forward to the next 100 days and really HOPE for CHANGE!
