Road Warriors: Traveling Tactics |
Road Warriors - Professional Horse Show Family
We own a large horse farm in Ohio where we keep over 100 horses, and juggle multiple careers. My husband is a professional horse show judge, and trainer. I am the riding professor at a major university, hold an insurance license, homeschool my daughter and the three of us are Road Warriors.
Our daughter is a 7 time national champion rider who is 16. We spend 4-7 days per week - 52 weeks a year -on the road hauling her from horse show to horse show in an effort to develop her career and to promote our business. The three of us, plus two dogs, travel in a motor home/ which has become our home away from home. Our adventures take us from Texas to Florida to New York and everywhere in between!
Due to the nature of our commitments, it is very common to arrive at a show destination, and have my husband fly out from the nearest airport in order to honor his judging obligations. I also fly home periodically from a large horse show to check on and manage our business. My daughter jets in and out as needed honor her duties as a national youth officer in multiple associations. She has more miles under her belt than most people in a lifetime.
We travel in a large motor home which is fully equipped to manage our needs including laundry facilities, a full kitchen, internet, office equipment, and everything we need to make life work on the road. We pull a horse trailer that holds our tack, feed, horses and golf cart which is our primary transportation at the venues. Our daughter has become a vital part of our business as she is now doing most of the training on our young horses and networking at the shows to promote sales.
Although our life is extraordinary, and unique, we have have figured out over YEARS on the road how to become better time managers, and handle any situation. Our daughter is even starting to drive the big rig. As a result of quality time spent together, we are an extremely close family unit.
Although I don't have access to a lot of our photos on the road, (we are currently in Michigan), I am enclosing a photo of our daughter from Florida with her horse, and a picture of "Home Sweet Home" in Hilliard, Ohio. Don't see it very often, but always nice to know it's still there:)
CNN and affiliates play on our satellite in the motorhome, 24/7 so we stay current in spite of our schedule. Come join us on the road sometime for an adventure!
Best regards,
The Griffiths
