Dennis Hopper named Honorary Mayor of Taos, NM
Actor Dennis Hopper was honored Monday, May 5, 2009, at the Harwood Museum of Arts by Taos Mayor Darren Cordova, who bestowed upon Hopper the honorary title of Mayor for the summer.
The Harwood Museum is also showing an art Exhibiton titled "Hopper at the Harwood - 40 Years of Friendship from L.A. to Taos" from May to September. The exhibit includes art by Hopper and art he curated from five of his friends, Larry Bell, Ron Cooper , Ronald Davis, Robert Dean Stockwell, and Ken Price.
The town is celebrating a Taos Summer of Love with over 300 special activites planned for the 40th Anniversary of the Hopper film Easy Rider, which was partly filmed in and around Taos in 1969 and is included.
