Paradigm Shift in Times Square -- Making Way for the Pedestrian

    Good morning everyone...

Bob Dylan once told us "the times, they are a-changin'" -- and that certainly couldn't be truer than in Times Square these days.

According to Mayor Bloomberg's plan (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601103&sid=aTxdhFQhHF3U&refer=us), construction crews have already begun overhauling one of NYC's most famous landmarks and tourist attractions giving it another of its historic facelifts.

Certainly Times Square is no stranger to change -- a stroll through a few choice movies from the 70s and 80s could illustrate just how far the square has come from being the haven for pornography, prostitution, and drugs it was just a couple of decades ago.  And now it is time for another paradigm shift...this time in favor of the pedestrian.

By summer's end, major portions of Broadway will be closed to vehicular traffic and will have been replaced by a shiny new pedestrian mall.

This iReport is merely the beginning...

Good luck crossing town in Midtown in the future everyone!!!  (I am just glad that we are moving from the area in June before all these changes take place).

    Sincerely,

    PHAmanNYC
