    AMERICAN RED CROSS NEEDS MORE BLANKETS FOR EVACUEES!!!

     

               

              

        The Jesusita Fire that started in Santa Barbara on Wednesday 6th just before 2:00pm is only 10 present contained. It burned over 3500 acres. 30,500 people were had to too mandatorily evacuated. There has been 0 Deaths, 11 injuries (combination of injuries) 3 fire fighters were rescued that were part of the injured. 1 asthma patient was affected. An estimated 75 have structures (mostly houses) have been destroyed at this time. The estimated cost of damage $2.6 million. There is currently 2335 personnel 246 engines 62 crews. Most of the morning the fire was concentrated towards the North end of Cieneguitas Rd. Road closures diverted traffic away from Highway 154. Fast winds, dry conditions and extremely dry climate contributed to how fast this fire spread.

        "Yes, though It's a fascinating place to live, I love it here.....This fire is similar to the Gap Fire in many ways. It just happens that this fire is now burning on one of the hottest days this year, the perfect storm" said Roger Bradley standing on top of a ridge waiting to the last minute to evacuate from his neighborhood. He believed this fire was arson, based on where it started (away from any camping or traffic) staring over the valley as helicopters dropped their retardant to keep the fire from crossing the ravine.

        No arrests have been made and there are no suspects at this time. The cause of the fire is still under investigation

    AMERICAN RED CROSS NEEDS MORE BLANKETS FOR EVACUEES!!!

        The American Red Cross is set up on the UCSB campus, with the organization and stability to bring the community back together. They brought in over 300 cots/blankets into the MAC Multi Activity Court Room (NOW FULL) with an additional 150 cots in the Basketball court gymnasium (next door) It is all set up in a very neat and clean environment, with access to a warm dinner, hot showers, lockers, extra cots and plenty of water. Foosball and Kids Corner for the kids.

    They have also provided a registered Nurse and LCSW a License Clinical Social Worker on their volunteer staff.

        Framers Insurance Group has their mobile tour bus set up to help people who have Farmers with any insurance clams they might have, and are also providing dinner to everyone. Their bus is equipped with WiFi that is open to anyone.

    Franklin Thunder Dome (for special medical needs) in on the UCSB campus, and American Red

    Cross shelter is in the recreation center also on the UCSB campus.
