Free The Scott Sisters - No Murders, No Injuries, $11 Double Life Sentences Each!

In 1994, the state of Mississippi sentenced Jamie and Gladys Scott to double life terms each for a crime they did not commit. A 14 year old witness testified that he was threatened and harassed, told that he would be sent to Parchman Penitentiary to be made of a woman if he did not lie on the Scott Sisters.  He stated in the lower court trial  that Jamie and Gladys had nothing to do with this robbery. The witness said that 9, 10 or 11 dollars was netted in this robbery. This 14 year old witness signed a statement that Sheriff Marvin Williams prepared for him before entering his office. The 14 year old singed this statement without reading it, and without an attorney present and of course without his mother present. The 14 year old said in court that he had been in jail 10 months and was promised that he would get out the next day if he signed the statement. That did not happen!

All witnesses including the victims of this alleged crime, stated in court that The Scott Sisters did not rob them, nor did they conspire to rob them, or participate in this robbery. The Scott Sisters have been in prison now 14 years 7 months as of May 9, 2009.  The Sisters have children and now, grand children. The children have been very badly affected by their mothers incarceration.  Words cannot describe the emotional strain.

Now, you may wonder why this has happened. This trumped up robbery with it's double life sentences happened because a relative turned state's evidence on a "High White Sheriff"  - Glenn Warren, that caused him to go to the penitentiary. Scott County was a dry county, no liquor being sold. The it was customary that club owners pay the sheriff under the table to sell liquorr.  Deputy Sheriff Marvin Williams ( Black Deputy), worked under that sheriff and promised the father of The Scott Sisters, James Rasco, that he would "get" him. Double Life Each for The Scott Sisters is how James Rasco was paid back for the nephew who turned state's evidence. This is not toally a racism case, it's a hate case, case against humanity and a grave injustice.  This is also a violation of constitutional rights and civil rights. Mr. Rasco died of a heartack knowing that he could not get his daughters out of prison.

Judge Marcus Gordon, the Judge in klansman Edgar Ray Killen's trial, is the judge who sentenced Jamie and Gladys Scott to Double Life Terms Each. Edgar Ray Killen received 60 years for the murders of three civil rights workers in Philadelphia, Mississippi.  A disparity in sentencing?

Mrs. Evelyn Rasco, the mother of The Scott Sisters and some of the children and grand children visited behind the walls during family week, not being able to come out during this week long visit. This was a very expensive endeavor to endure such madness - behind the walls as a family.

The Brother of the Scott Sisters has served in the military 20 plus years, fighting for a country which has taken the lives of his sisters.
