Union Pacific Western Heritage Steam Tour 2009
The Union Pacific Railroad is celebrating not only National Rail Day, the 140th Anniversary of the Golden Spike, but the 100th Anniversary of (what would have been) the Western Pacific (now owned by UP) during it's current Western Heritage Steam Tour.
Today, the UP 844 and its accompanying passenger car fleet is on display in Ogden, Utah. It will continue its run through the Western States leaving Ogden Monday, May 11 at 8am MT. The UP844 is the oldest operating steam locomotive that has never been out-of-service. It was delivered to Union Pacific Railroad in 1944 and has been in use ever since.
Check these facts and the train schedule at the UP website .
