Happy Mother's Day to My Classy Mom

My mom will turn 80 years old this year and I am so glad to be going to Pennsylvania to celebrate the occasion. My mom grew up in Manhattan and used to be a Frank Sinatra groupie, of sorts. She used to tell stories about skipping school to go and see him perform. She was one of the orignal "bobby-soxers" who swooned over the sexy Frankie. She was and is one classy woman.

The first pic is of my mom and her best friend, Alice, who is my godmother. They are still the best of buds at 80 years old. This is my favorite picture of her. She's the one with the long flowing hair.

The second pic is of my mom and dad in the Winter of "07.

The third pic is of my nana, who died at the age of 94 in 1985. Happy Mother's Day Nana!

My mom took care of her mom for the last 5 years of her life. Now she is taking care of my dad, who had a stroke in December of '07, shortly after this pic was taken, I think.

My mom raised 7 kids and she did it with love and humor. She is witty and fun and I regret that I live on the other side of the country and don't get to see her often.

One thing I remember my mom saying that has stuck in my head is "it's a woman's perogative to change her mind." That's come in handy for me on occasion. lol.

Happy Mothers Day to my mom and all the mother's out there on ireports.
