Cumbres & Toltec Railway
I've taken many different railroad rides. I've done the Skagway railway, Grand Canyon railway, and Durango trains twice. But a few summers ago I did the Cumbres and Toltec steam train from Antonito, Colorado to Chama, New Mexico. The train switch backs back and forth so much across the state lines you can get a good photo of the Engine passing you if you're near the back of the train (see the 2nd photo). The train goes through some beautiful meadows and forests. I'll admit the Animas river canyon views on the Durango to Silverton train are pretty spectacular, but I really enjoyed the beauty of the Colorado new mexico border area. I'm planning on taking the train again a month from now. I'm really looking forward to it. My father and sister are going to join my wife and I on the trip. We plan on staying at a fishing ranch.
