This iReport is part of an assignment:
Show us how you bike to work |
I wish I could bike to work
Unfortunately, housing close to where I work is so expensive I can't afford it. And even if I did live "close" to work it would still be a couple miles as our business district is so conjested. So--I live about a 30 miles from work in a small town. While I'm no slouch, 30-miles something I could not bike twice every day.
So in case any policy makers are listening--if you want us to use alternative transport like bikes and buses, make housing a little more practically-priced, please. Or use some smart-growth policies so that housing is better integrated with commercial properties.
I don't need a McMansion on the outskirts. I need something practical and affordable. Building (or re-building) a city to meet the needs of the common, people, including the ability to bike to work, will help everyone lead happier, healthier lives.
