This iReport is part of an assignment:
Obama to select Sotomayor for Supreme Court |
Dems succeed where Bush failed - most voters now pro life for the 1st time
(this sculpture is museum art on birth, not porn). As a pro-choice, woman, conservative, I'm conflicted on the Gallup results showing that americans are now pro-life. (here's the link) http://www.gallup.com/poll/118399/More-Americans-Pro-Life-Than-Pro-Choice-First-Time.aspx
On the one hand, its always been my belief that abortion, while horrid, is no business of the government. If you belong to a church that excummincates people over abortions, then enjoy your beliefs and excommunication. But don't make your religion the law of the land. Don't try to make islam, catholicism, or snake handling the law of the land, please.
On the other hand, many people realize that the more democrats (and republicans) "advertise" some of their positions, the more voters are likely to think about them and walk the other way.
That's why I've never favored censorship. If somebody says something stupid, or ugly, or hypocritical, then CELEBRATE it, and don't keep hitting the "one star" or "violation" button in an attempt to make sure its never discovered.
We are a nation which values freedom of expression - and majority rule. The democrats now find themselves in the same position as bush was: they're advocating a postion the majority of voters don't approve of.
Stand by as new polls emerge showing that a Tsunami of opposition is forming against tax increases, micro-regulation, and government nanny-ism .
Those who wield power with a heavy hand always seem to be surprised when the people they're hitting cry out.
