Stories from the drive-in |
The Braintree Twin Drive-in
My family would go to the Braintree Twin Drive in in Braintree, MA. My brother Daniel had just got his license and he drove with my mother, brother and I to the Drivein to see the movie., They Shoot Horses Don't They, which had to be in the late sixties, early seventies perhaps. After the movie ended we had to wait for the parking area to clear out as my brother was nervous about driving and possibly hitting one of the side speakers. Speaking of speakers, years before, prior to the movie starting, we would all go to the play area which was situated underneath the movie screen. We would play on the swings and generally run wild with the other kids. The clock on the movie screen would indicate the movie was about to begin, plus it always started about dusk anyway. We all ran to the car and as it was already starting to get dark, my brother (Daniel, again) ran into the speaker cord that ran from the pole to the car. He did a flip over the cord. Hysterical.
