    Fun with pollen

Allergy season is in full swing and I try to stay indoors as much as possible.  The good side of all this is that this gives me and my family more time to work on fun projects.  The current project is collecting pollen and finding what exactly I'm allergic to. (Yes, I could go to the doctor and get tested, but where's the fun in that?!)

Most of the pollen grains in the air are dry and shriveled.  If you want to see the real shape of a grain, you have to hydrate it first before putting it under the microscope.  The video is a timelapse (~4 minutes real time) of pollen grains being hydrated in alcohol/glycerin  solution.
