Sri Lanka: Improving health and care after the tsunami

Improving Sri Lanka’s health and care infrastructures

Under its post-tsunami health infrastructure development programme the Red Cross Red Crescent is working with the Sri Lankan health ministry to improve and strengthen the quality of patient care services for local communities.

The programme aims to reconstruct or renovate 77 hospitals, clinics and dispensaries located across 16 districts. Brand new medical equipment is also being provided to most of these facilities, all of which were either directly or indirectly affected by the tsunami.
