The Wall - Vietnam War Memorial - In Memory of those loved and lost

I  hadn’t heard of The Wall in Second Life until after it had opened, unfortunately. I missed the grand opening and dedication a couple years ago which I understand was a spectacular event. The Wall is as amazingly [more] accurate and beautiful as the real one in Washington D.C. and took months to create.

The companion website linking you to The Wall in SL is http://www.thewallsl.com If you would like to visit The Wall in Second Life you can go directly to its location with this link http://slurl.com/secondlife/The%20Wall/36/31/25/, and if you are not a SL resident yet, you can also sign up for free at the url.

The Wall SL – founded by Evian Argus (President of Meme Science CEO of Gridocity.com) and co-owned by Bleys Chevalier, Meme Science’s recreation of the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Wall in Second Life is absolutely stunning. Located at in Second LIfe, it opened on Nov 7th, 2007 with the reading of the names inscribed on the wall. Nov 7th was the 25th Anniversary of the memorial and the ceremony commemorating the anniversary by Gen Colin Powell was streamed into SL at The Wall.

Visitors may search for a Vietnam serviceman who died by typing the name at a directory station. Each name is assigned a number. When the name is found, the visitor will be transported to the panel on the 500-foot wall where the name is etched in the black granite. The names  are clear and you can zoom in to view a name given time for the graphics to download.

Also at The Wall is a recreation of the Three Soldiers statue, and the Vietnam Veterans Women’s Statue.  There are park benches to sit at and many residents come to visit with each other and relax in a beautiful setting.

Residents can now leave an item at The Wall in Second Life near the name or panel of their choosing, just like in Real Life.

Please do take time to remember our fallen Heros from any conflict around the world, spoken and unspoken.
