Obama nominates Sottomayor - does he realize she's a Bush appointee?
President Obama promised us a clean break from the evils of the Bush presidency, yet here he is nominating Sonia Sottomayor to the US Supreme Court. Does he even realize that she's a Bush appointee to the NY District court where she sits now?
Among her more controversial decisions, sure to be vetted during congressional hearings:
- in 1995, in a "strike breaking" decision, she ordered MLB players back to work, siding with the owners rather than the players union
- Overturning freedom of the press traditions, she required a new york newspaper to print Vince Foster's alleged suicide note, which bore neither his fingerprints nor his signature http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vince_Foster
Sottomayor, who is a huge Yankees fan, was not romantically linked to Randy Johnson during his short tenure on the Yankees pitching staff.
