    Hostage Drama

    The call originated as a jumper on the NW corner of 79th Street and York Ave.

    As I rode to the address, I pictured a body covered by the customary white sheet.

    As I approached, I saw ESU officers deploying the massive air mattress. Now the story goes from a  jumper to a domestic dispute where the husband threatens to jump from the 4th floor window.

     

    As time passed, I came to the realization, the jump was not going to happen. Whether the suspect was coming out dead or alive I knew my line of sight was blocked by the inflated airbag.

    K9 was sent in to diffuse the situation and at that time the airbag was deflated.
