    A Memorial Day Miracle

When Pure Thoughts, Inc Horse and Foal Rescue began making plans to head back to Ohio for their Second Annual Memorial Day Weekend Save it was determined that the rescue would try to save 25 horses. Everyone involved knew it would be an emotional event. Jennifer Swanson, founder of PTHR wanted the rescue to be in honor of the thousands of horses that have served America during our countries greatest battles from the Revolution to the current horses who are serving in the mountains of Afghanistan with our present day troops. Horses may be the forgotten Hero of our Military but this weekend no horse was left behind at Sugarcreek Livestock Auction in Central Ohio. When PTHR pulled out of Sugarcreek just before 11 pm Saturday night, they left a known kill auction void of any horses waiting for their final ride to a Mexican or Canadian slaughter house where their flesh would be sold overseas for human consumption. All 162 horses are now on a farm being prepared for transport to Wellington, FL where they will be quarantined, rehabbed, and adopted out to new homes. If you would like to donate, volunteer, or learn more on how you can adopt a rescued horse please visit www.pthr.org
