This iReport is part of an assignment:
Couples on same-sex marriage |
Should the catholic church rebrand itself as gay-friendly?
Work with me on this one. The catholic church has some problems. Declining membership. Scandals over homosexual priests. Inability to appear relevant.
America's gay men and women just want to be accepted.
Suppose the catholic church was to "come out" as exclusively for gays, and would perform gay marriages?
In one moment, we seem to have solved everyones problem, right? Priests can come out of the closet. Gays can marry. Attendance at mass rises dramatically.
And presumbably, abortion will no no longer be an issue driving the faithful from mass.
If there's a reason this won't work, I'd like to hear it.
