Lech Walesa's giant poster
The giant poster of Lech Walesa was hung on the highest building in Gdansk, in front of the legendary Gdansk Shipyard. It was the place where in August 1980 the great labour strike started and, transformed into a national Solidarity movement, after 9 years provoked the changes which resulted in the first democratically organized election on 4th June 1989. The communists were completely defeated in that voting and Walesa, the leader of Solidarity movement and worker of The Gdansk Shipyard was shortly elected a president of free Poland. Tomorrow the whole Poland is celebrating the 20th anniversary of these memorable events.
