PROP 8....WHY MARRIAGE IS UNDER ATTACK
Why Homosexual Marriage Isn’t Right
I guess one could say that Homosexual Marriage is OK, and another could say it’s not. Many believe that the courtship between a Man and Woman and the ultimate decision to wed is what defines marriage. Personally, I agree. I do not wish to turn this debate into something that could be considered a Fraternity. Call it my Conservative views, call it whatever you like, but do not fool yourselves into believing that Marriage can exist between a same sex couple.
Marriage, to me, has always been between a Man and Woman(Woman and Man if you prefer). To me, Marriage has always been about procreation. It is a scientific fact that a Homosexual couple is incapable of procreating. Procreation is what obviously sustains our human population. If every man and every woman were gay, it is very simple, there would be no human existence. There is no chance of creating a new generation, no chance of passing our existence on towards the future. Our existence relies on the simple ability to procreate.
Homosexuality, may occur naturally, maybe not. Part of me believes that some, not all, of homosexual relationships result because of previously failed heterosexual relationships. Why is it that often people “discover” they’re gay after failed relationships with the opposite sex?
When it comes down to it, I believe that what defines a Marriage is the ability to pro-create. The ability to extend life is what gives marriage its meaning. I am all for equal rights. I believe that we as a society can grow towards a greater understanding of one another, our tolerance is our strength. However, I believe that there is and should be a fundamental difference between what is considered marriage and a civil union.
Gays and Homosexuals, I believe in equal rights, I believe in a freedom of choice without the fear of persecution. I believe that everyone should be treated equal, no matter how we, as a country, have failed in the past. However, I also believe that there are fundamental differences between a heterosexual couple and homosexual couple. This is why I believe that marriage is only constituted between a man and woman.
I guess if I were to try define Marriage to encompass what I believe it to be, it would be this.
Marriage: A courtship between Man and Woman, where the ultimate goal is to live with one another and have the option to procreate as a means to extend the human race.
I believe this definition de-sensitizes the emotional effect of marriage but defines it in a manner appropriate to what it deserves and what it represents.
