    My little kitchen in Oslo

I will never feel like I can fit into my kitchen again after living here in the USA. Kitchens are huge here and often they are part of the biggest room in the home, the family room. USA homes are about 75 % bigger than same price condos in Norway.

The USA kitchens have different styles but I have not seen a super modern kitchen anywhere here. Many have Tuscan style, transitional style, Pottery Barn style,  or anything but not modern.

I don't particularly care for the modern look - it looks clean and boring - but in in Norway a kitchen has to be modern in a modern condo for resale value. So that dictates that everything has to be in similar style. I mixed antiques from my grandma very nervously with my modern Danish style furniture. Every one either thinks it is OK or they are telling me white lies.

I love the bar. Many condos have a closet kitchen: you open double doors and right behind it is your kitchen. counter.  Basically you are standing in the living room while you cook in the kitchen. I don't understand why it is so expensive on Oslo to get a few square feet extra?

I have a studio - one open space, with a bathroom behind a door. The bathroom is really tiny. The sink is half way under the shower head, and the toilet would not be of any use by some 30% people in this country. I think the weight limit is 200lbs. It has the smallest toilet seat one can buy anywhere.

Altogether everything is much smaller but much more expensive than here. Since nearly everyone has SMALL things it is not a BIG issue. But two small cars hitting each other is worse than if two big cars do it. A maximum disaster comes if a 1.2 L 2 seater Fiat is hit by a hummer, I think the hummer could just run over a Fiat.

But this look and the wood floors is great for people with allergies. Only a tiny bit of dust can collect anywhere, and a small space is easier fo keep very clean. Wall to wall carpeting was never accepted by the Eurpeans.
