    Brush with greatness

    More from sjunat55

    It's Showtime, TONY (Soprano?)

That's James Gandolfini there, a.k.a. Tony Soprano.
But this is not about that Tony, it's about Broadway's biggest show- the TONY Awards...a.k.a the Antoinette Perry Awards for Excellence in Theatre, to be awarded June 7th in New York City's Radio City Music Hall.
Gandolfini (1,2) is nominated for Best Actor in a Play, along with the rest of the cast of  "God of Carnage"  (yes, the entire cast!), now at the Jacobs Theatre on Broadway.
3-Marcia Gay Harden. Oscar winner for "Pollock", is nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play.
4-Jeff Daniels, up for Best Actor fighting it with the Tony.
5-Hope Davis, nominated for Best Actress
6-Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush, nominated for Best Actor for his performance in "Exit the King"
7-And Constantine Maroulis, an American Idol contestant, is nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, for "Rock of Ages".
I took all these pictures this week, taking advantage of that old Broadway tradition- the stage door, where audiences (and non) wait outside the theatre's exit door for autographs and pictures of the stars.
And the last one is a clip of Gandolfini greeting a former college classmate from Rutgers, Andrea Jacobson, who was right next to me by the stage door. What a cool guy he is!
For another Tony nominee, for writing the music and lyrics of "9 to 5"...take a look at Dolly!
