2009 UTAH PRIDE FESTIVAL-Salt Lake City
The Utah Pride Festival is being held in Salt Lake City June 5-7, 2009 in Salt Lake City, UT. Valerie A. Larabee, Executive Director of the Utah Pride Center, and the Festival Team held a press conference today to review the highlights of this weekend's activities. Grand Marshal of the festival is Cleve Jones who interned with Harvey Milk in San Francisco in the 1970's, spearheaded the creation of the AIDS Memorial Quilt and co-founded the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Governon Jon Huntsman, Jr. will be presented with the 2009 Pete Suazo Political Action Award for his support of LGBT issues during his tenure as Utah Governor. Paula Poundstone is the headliner as the main act on Saturday, June 6th and Sunday's highlights include a morning parade. Cleve Jones will make two major announcements of national interest as he addresses the Proposition 8 vote in California and the national spotlight that has been shed on Utah as a result of the fundraising efforts made by the LDS Church.
