First ever on-line vote cast in EU elections
Estonia is the first country in the EU to have on- line voting for the European Parliament elections. Vahur Orrin from Tallinn took the chance to become the first man ever to vote on-line when he cast his vote in Brussels - one second after the the polling site went up on Thursday 28 May 2009.on
On 28 May 2009 at 8am Estonia opened as the first country for online voting in the European Elections. Vahur Orrin from Estonia - employed with the political party Libertas in Brussels, Belgium was ready at 8am to cast his vote online. It was later confirmed by the Estonian election authorities that Vahur Orrin actually cast the first vote.
Online voting was used in Estonian local and general elections in 2005. This Ireport shows Vahur Orrin casting the first ever online vote in the European Elections.
