Philippines Set 2 – Provinces and Beaches

There is life outside Metro Manila and this kind of living is for those who enjoy nature and culture at its best. There are a lot of markers that depicts historical events scattered all over the country. There will be markers about World War 2 and even about the first colonization. For example, there is a marker in Bohol that depicts how the Spanish invaders made friends with the local chiefs prior to invasion. Aside from that, Bohol is also known for the Chocolate Hills which was once considered as a Wonder of the World. How about enjoying a traditional dance with the locals, yes it is possible due to the warm hospitality of the people. Enjoying the tarsiers, one of the endangered species can be done here in Bohol as well.

Going north from Manila will not be as boring if you can spot markers. If you are on your way to La Union, a WW2 marker will be there sticking out for anyone to enjoy. La Union is known to have good waves and is a usual spot for surfers.

The Shrine of Valor is also located up north to give commemoration of various encounters during WW2.

Beaches down south such as Puerto Galera is usually in the list of places to go. This is because of the clean beaches and abundance of places to eat beach side and not to forget the good accommodations around.

Up north, Vigan is a place of full culture. If you want to be brought back to the past, then this is the place to go to. Crisologo street is a aisle being traversed by horse pulled carriages on a brick road. The famous Vigan empanada is also made popular by this place. Baluarte ni Chavit is also in this place where you can interact with animals, somehow like a petting zoo.

Olongapo is also a place that is great to be at. It has a museum to give you a good glimpse about the past of the place. Subic is also here which used to be the last US military base and the Western Culture did not just fade away but rather it grew with the place. Zoobic is inside Subic which is another good place to see various animals which were nursed using the old bunkers used during WW2.

Lastly, Cagayan de Oro and Camiguin is 2 places you should go which is located south of the country. Cagayan de Oro is known for white water rafting, nature trekking, zip lining and rappelling deep within nature. Camiguin is known for Katibawasan Falls and White  Island which is completely white, treeless and disappears during high tide.
