Colbert-the-alpaca hair cut
Stephen Colbert is a world famous alpaca that toured eleven states with alpaca buddy, BB King, and calls "Lake Placid, FL" his home base. As the National Spokesalpaca (He never shuts up much...) he and his buddies support and promote various causes, none greater than efforts to support our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. So, through his owner, Lake Placid's Commander-in-Chief, Mayor Tom Katsanis, learned of Colbert's desire to further the effect of last week's "Colbert Report" broadcast from Iraq in which TV star comic, Stephen Colbert-the human, received a buzz cut from 4-Star General Ray Odieno as ordered by President Barak Obama. A patriotic crowd of townsfolk met the mayor as he ordered Police Chief Williams to "cut Stephen Colbert's hair" under the black bear mural painted on the outside wall of Tony's Barbershop in Lake Placid. Chants of "USA, USA, USA....." were heard through the rural town, peaking curiosity of open market shoppers in the next park. Lorraine Loperfido was enjoying the event as she owns Alpaca Angels (The Farm of Eden) where Colbert, Bocelli, BB King and other celebrity named critters reside. Tony Morris, the barber, had son Justin help the police chief by scissor trimming the rest of Colberts locks as dad videotaped the historic tribute to "The Colbert Report's" salute to our fighting men and women. After that early event, the alpaca trio had much more to do with the mayor at the market and then moved on to Sebring where a Purina feed promotion got in full swing with bar-b-que and alfalfa, and then the boys participated in an Outdoor Expo at Lakeshore Mall to help vendors get recognition and customers. They ended their day with a visit in WHRT's television station humming tunes to assist viewers in fundraising for the fledgling new channel. They can hum "The Battle Hum of The Republic" pretty good, but Mayor Katsanis wants them to practice "Alde Lang Syne" for celebrating New Year's Eve back in Lake Placid with thousands of residents humming along with them. These three alpacas are the trio out of The Barnyard Quartet giving concerts in several Florida counties to help charitable causes.
