Puma win the leg at Sandhamn and Ericsson4 secure the lead VolvoOceanRace
It was a matchrace into Sandhamn. The weather were uncertain, and the boats sailed in 17-20 knt all the way from Marstrand. It was Ericsson3 and Puma that fought over the first place and for a while the lead were shifting. THe boats were following each others moves up until Ericsson3 had an issue with their genoa that got stuck and they lost what they couldn't afford.
Shippin up to Boston with the dropkickmurphys were plying out loud when a huge crowd of hundreds of visitors stood on the dock to celebrate Puma. They were closely followed by Ericsson3 and after them the champagne were flooding and the applause were loud when Ericsson4 entered the stage.
A day of celebration, Pumas´ first win of a leg and Ericsson4 bringing home the whole competition.
Sandhamn, a traditionally sailing island out in the northern stockholm archipelago were a part of bringing history forward tonight. I can just say that it was a thrill.
