This iReport is part of an assignment:
Salute to troops |
Welcome Home
Today is a special day for 3 year old Emily. Her Daddy is coming home. Specialist Robert C. Genaro, US Army, and his fellow Soldiers are returning home to Fort Hood, TX after 12 long months in Afghanistan.
12 months ago while Specialist Genaro prepared for his first deployment, little Emily did not understand or know what was really going on. Emily enjoyed all the attention, hugs and kisses she received by her Daddy and his soldier buddies. It was heartbreaking for Specialist Genaro to let his little girl go. For those who watched him, it was a tearful moment.
Now 12 months later, it is uplifting to hear my granddaughter’s excitement over the phone. "My Daddy’s coming home" she tells me. How can I hold back my tears, when all I want is to be there, too. I want to see my baby come home.
For a Navy wife and Army mom, to see them all arrive safely is the most joyful moment in anyone’s heart. Some come home to their family and other’s to no one -- No wife waiting for them, Moms and Dads could not be there, not even a family member or friends to welcome them home. This is why I cry in silence. I don’t want any of our soldiers to come home today or ever without a big hug and kiss or not get to hear "Man, I’m glad your HOME!!"
So here’s to all our service members that have fought for this country and for the ones that are still fighting: Thank you and God Bless!
HuuAhh!!!!!
