All in all the sterling  and rock falls illinois area  has a combined population of only 25,000 people yet we seem to be the murder capital of illinois in which seems chicago and rockford size towns may be the only areas to beat us out  in murders the last 2 years i for one am not sure what our murder per capita is however it would probably beat out any towns this size by far. at the same time our local government body is cutting spending in emergency services. this area has seemed to become the most violent place i have ever seen. in the past year we have had 6 murders linked to nick sheley, 2 domestic murders, shootings at our local swimming lake,  3 murders linked to gangs, 3 murders linked to drugs, and many more violent episodes its like watching  cops in our back yard . our area needs help what our local officials can do and what they cant do isnt enough we need more help in this little town. before it gets even more out of control. its too much for them to handle.                                                       UPDATED:Sterling police have comfirmed the reason Mr jaun Lopez was murdered. An altercation began over Mr. Gomez owing Mr. Lopez money for rent in which Gomez and the other two suspects had promised Lopez for staying in his home.
