This iReport is part of an assignment:
Bonding with Dad |
A drawing of my Dad...the UPSMAN!
Ever hear the one about how your real father is the milkman or the mailman or the UPSman?
Well, in my case it's true.
My dad retired from United Parcel Service after delivering parcels for over 30 years of his life.
My father met my mother when he was in the USAF stationed in Cordell, Oklahoma. Afeter I was born and his service was over, he moved the three of us back to his hometown in central Wisconsin.
My parents had four daughters, and years later would adopt another girl. Six women in one household meant he was the odd-man-out...lol.
Not having any sons meant my dad had to compromise...so he made me the boy...lol.
I was the one who went fishing, cut trees, & built sheds with dad. He also taught me how to pick mushrooms. He's an expert in the field and I'll never forget his words..."In mushroom picking, there's no such thing as TRIAL AND ERROR!"
As a certified welder who can hold her own to most men I know, I credit my dad for raising me to be strong and self-sufficient...and to never have to rely on a man to do ANYTHING! (except change the oil in my car...i hate that...lol)
I got my good looks and my talent from my dad, and I'm pretty sure my sense of humour is, of course, from the milkman.
Happy Father's Day Dad...from your daughter, the artist...and wiseguy.
