Bonding with Dad |
Father-less Day
This is a father's day story that won't be reported on any television channels or told in any newspapers, and there are no cards for this kind of father’s day. It is the story of all the children in the country that either don't know who their fathers are, or have fathers that deserted them long ago, many before they were born, and have no fathers to receive cards, hugs, gifts, love. It is the story of the fatherless Americans. Every year on this day literally millions of Americans celebrate a day devoted to their fathers. Every year of this day untold numbers of Americans have nothing to do but wonder why their fathers didn't want them and left them alone without a father. Fathers that couldn't take the responsibility, fathers that ran away from mothers, fathers that were removed by force for causing physical and mental hurt to their children, fathers incarcerated for breaking laws, fathers that never knew they even had a child. It is not a day of celebration for the fatherless; it is a day of mourning someone never known, or no longer there to be celebrated. It is a day of sadness. We watch the stories of how wonderful fathers devoted their lives to their children, playing with them, teaching them, loving them, and can only stare at stories not understood. It is a day of sadness that we have no father to love, no father to share a life with, no father to answer questions, no father to teach us, no father to love us and be loved. A day created to celebrate that which will be forever lost to so many is the saddest day of the year. We loathe its return every year. Happy Fatherless Day to those that need a hug. From a Mother.
