    Swarming Bees in Amityville, NY

At 10:30AM on 5/29/08 a ferocious swarm of bees was observed on Route 110 in Amityville NY. There was no apparent reason for the bees to be where they were however they created a slight traffic disturbance as the cars passed through and hit them. The dead bees removed from car grills measured 7/16" to 1/2".

It is doubtful that they are Africanized Honey Bees (also known as Killer Bees) as they have not migrated much further north of Texas.

    No injuries were reported.
