    Young People Who Rock

18 year old dyslexic guy with GED has Alternative Fuel's shop. Vegetable Oil Powered H1 Hummer.

Hi young people who rock.  A buddy of myne suggested I write a quick note to you guys about what I do and who I am.  My name is Sam Masa.  I'm 18 years old and I live in Clifton Virginia.

For a long time I've thought that the Hummer was a neat vehicle, but I could never justify buying one.  It was way to expensive up front and the fuel was going to kill me.

I ran a stage productions company for a couple years (www.massaproductions.com) and actually paid for my truck with the money I made doing that.

I've always been different that the other people I hang out with.  I'm not a traditional student- I'm dislexic and have a hard time with a lot of pretty "normal" school type things.  After leaving the public school and going through a couple years of private alternative school. this past year I got my GED and started an alternative fuels business (www.gomge.com).  We convert vehicles to burn Recycled Waste Vegetable Oil.

I do a bit of speaking in the public school's about having learning disabilities and still being able to reach for your dreams.  I talk about overcoming difficulties and adapting to make things work in the "real world" (i have my computer read an email aloud so the kids can hear what tools I use every day in the workplace).  I start by writing on the board in mirror image and saying who i am and a little bit about myself.  I talk about the different kinds of learners and I talk about how its okay to be different.  I talk about how I wanted to drive a big yellow hummer around and I didn't really have any idea how I could pay for it, and tell the story about how I did it.

I did a lot of research into alternative's for diesel fuel and for various reasons settled on Waste Vegetable Oil.  I could see a real need for it in the current market as well as a good avenue for me to offset some of the fuel cost for my truck.

I got together with a company, Golden Fuel Systems and scrounged the money to buy some product and open a dealership on Sterling Virginia.  We're now doing 3 vehicles a week in our shop and are expanding our operations throughout new england.

I drive the hummer t trade show saround the country filling up at Fast Food restaurants and other eating establishments that fry things.  I literally pull up, get permission to take their oil, and suck it right into my gas tank.  I love talking to the restaurant owners and patrons about how the whole oil thing works.  People really light up when I jump in my stereotypically earth-notfriendly hummer and drive away burning a cleaner fuel than a Pruis :)

We're set up to convert any diesel vehicle- form a small Volkswagen to a Fleet of Dump trucks.  I've been on the R&D side of things, and also on the practical installation side and Im very happy doing what I do today.

Im scheduled to be on the road for a fair amount of time opening new dealerships/shops along the east coast.  We're growing rapidly and I figure'd I'd share my story to see if you guys wanted to do anything with it.  There are a bunch of angles you could tank, but i cant type them all on the computer very effectively.  If you guys would like to chat on the phone that'd be great.  My  office number is 240-404-7725x3.

Thanks and have a good one!

    ~Sam Massa
