Public health insurance is good
It's odd that people instinctively resist the notion of public health insurance, even though most university graduates attended a public university. We seem to understand the pro-capitalist role the state plays when it comes to higher education, but have been trained to fear the governments role in health care.
Let the state offer cheap and affordable general purpose health care, and let the insurance companies move up-market to cover additional procedures not covered by the government. That's the same model followed by private universities. Harvard and Yale are very profitable even though they don't target every high school graduate looking for a university education.
