Remembering Ed McMahon |
- Engelbert Humperdinck Honored in his hometown today April 24th 2010
- City’s finest to be honored in Walk of Fame april 24th (The first Leicester ‘heroes’)
- my advice to young woman who have goals and dreams
- a list of what authorities found in Jackson's home the day of his death
- HOW CAN THEY NOT CALL THIS MURDER?
MY favorite customer ! HE defended me to my boss and won!
I searched everywhere today for a very special piece of paper..... a memento, A TREASURED KEEP SAKE I saved that MR MC Mahahon gave me when i worked for a major Las Vegas casino Where he occasionally visited !
I do not beleive he was much of a gambler because
My first time meeting him i offered to help him to understand a racing form he had picked up at the race book where i worked !
.We had several well known stars visit frequently ......
and for some reason MOST of my co workers would get intimidated and not ask them if they needed assistance!
He admitted he knew nothing about horse betting
and was just amazed at the size and decor and a little overwhelmed
and he seemed so glad to have someone to answer his questions!
Long after i was to go to break he was still coming to the counter to ask questions and chat and try his luck on a a few simple
bets for fun ..Nothing big ...
but I really think he enjoyed himself !
At one point he even brought his son up to meet me..
And he started calling me his fav lil helper !
On one occasion ,just as the line got to his turn my boss put up my closed sign and directed him to the next teller and told me to go to break!
WELL at that point MR M, GAVE my boss a piece of his mind AND I WILL never forget it !!It
HE TOLD HIM "it was employees like me that MADE it worth the time to visit the casino and that he should hire about 1000 more just like me "
AND HE SAID IT LOUD ENOUGH THAT THE WHOLE RACE BOOK COULD HEAR WHAT HE WAS SAYING!! !He said " HE DID NOT want TO BET so much as HE enjoyed the nice service!! and the extra time i took to help him learn the ins and outs of horse racing
I was a lil embarrassed ...BUT mostly i was JUST so Happy to have someone as respected as MR Mc Mahon say such nice things about me to the ENTIRE race and sports book !
It meant a lot to me
THE job I had is very hard to come by and competitive and i really appreciated his support ! and he even continued to look me up and visit each time he was in the area !
And as if that wasn't enough ,
He made his son find him a marker and he drew a big heart on a Santa Anita racing form and wrote
"Thanks for teaching me how to handicap the horses .. your friend Ed McMahon " right across the front of it and handed it to me ! Right in front of my co workers and MY BOSS!
and then HE told my boss "AND just for the record Boss , she DIDN'T ask for this ,I wanted her to have it so don't give her a hard time! and then he winked at me! and smiled !
it is that racing form I am searching for today !
and hope to share
Even after I was promoted to a keno runner In the cafe a year or so later He look ed me up and let me know
He had asked about me and made a special trip to the cafe to see his fav girl!
Once again he was with his son !THey seemed really close
The last time i saw him he told me he was working on an endorsement for his own brand of vodka and said he hoped all my cocktail friends would recommend it !
I agreed to tell them and i did tell a few BUT the cocktail girls don't mingle with the keno runners much ...IT is kinda a status thing
BUT I NEVER WAS ONE TO believe in STATUS ! lol
What i never told me Mc Mahon was MY first JOB ever was as a performer , a singer, I made my first record at the age of six , I was just a little bitty girl when i started performing at a local jamboree!
I performed for a living most of my life and this
casino Job was for the most part my first " REAL"
JOB!
i have written many of my own songs and MOST OF MY LIFE dreamed of being a BIG time singer
A brain injury and a few other life set backs caused me to not pursue my music career and i was offered a major recording contract a few years earlier
i remember ....
.I used to watch ED HOST on star search and dream i was a contestant !
BUT i never mentioned this to him ,
Nor did i i ever give him A copy of a cd I had made of my original songs !Much as i would have liked to
1. it was against company policy and I understood why
2. I needed MY job for the medical insurance and i respected the company rules and didn't want MR M to ever think this is why I liked him and gave him the service i gave !
I gave him good service not just because it was my job but also because he was a genuinely good person and I liked him .
I really wish i could remember his sons name !
and i wish i could tell him how much i liked his father and that i remember ...
I no longer work for the major casino corporation!
SADLY , They let me go when i started having medical complications and THEY decided after 10 years I no longer could perform up to their company standards at least that's what the term paper says ...All i know is
I always GAVE them my very best
I guess it wasn't enough for them !
.BUT I HAVE my memories
good times with some of the most wonderful people and friends i made
that thouched my heart and made my day !.
.and MR ED McMahon is on the very top of MY favorite customers LIST
I will cherish my Santa anita racing form he gave me , always because It is a symbol for me that
No matter what the coporate office may think about me many of the customers thought differently and
and as soon as i find it I will share his words he wrote on face book ..lol..smiles .....
to honor him
and one more thing MR M ....
I know you and johnny are enjoying a good laugh in heaven tonight as you should be ...God bless YOU ...
