China earthquake |
Things we need........
OK, well I have been asked what kinds of things we need here. We are in the process of setting up a fund through another group and will let everyone know how they can contribute funds to this through this group as soon as it's ready.
I hope to:
1- Set up a training center to teach counselors better how to deal with
all the psychological aspects of helping the people here best.
2-
Set up a clinic for this counseling near the heart of the center of the
earthquake area. In this case a place called MianYang. It is between
Beichuan and Chengdu China.
3- Set up a school/residence for those children who are without
families primarily, and others who really have no home even with their
parents at this time. With counseling available to them at the school.
4-
To give lectures in different areas about the effects of PTSD, how to
recognize and deal with these in themselves as well as others. This in
order to reach the thousands affected in a faster although temporary
way. And to encourage them in getting continued individual counseling
and therapy at available centers. (Counseling and therapy here are
still new and not fully understood concepts here as yet).
5- If enough funds are available would like to also ensure some
medical care of cases especially involving any children, children and
others with long term medical effects from this disaster and who may
have become permanently disabled.
I am already starting lectures here now, but these are not
getting to very many who were actually involved in the quake area
itself. But for the moment it is all we can do without more support.
We are in need of tents, sleeping bags, rain gear, camping equipment of all kinds etc, childrens books, art supplies, clothes basic office things and much more. Many of these thousands and thousands of people are outside So anything really.
Thanks for all those who have asked. Can contact me at docmarko2005@yahoo.com for an address if you need.
