This iReport is part of an assignment:
CNN30: Death of Michael Jackson |
Celebrating The King - Michael Jackson lives on in us
26.06.09 Warsaw, Poland: Once I got word of Michael's cardiac arrest on Friday 0100 local time, I first spent the next couple of hours weeping and watching CNN. Then I got myself together and realized that I had to gather people together...to celebrate his life and music, his love and passion for the world.
Thus, I got onto the local social network (Grono) and asked people if they wouldn't like to meet up at the city centre on Friday evening 1800 to share a few moments together and express our love for him.
Thanks to the magic of the internet word got around via Facebook, Grono and various communicators. We also sent word out to the media. I got to the spot an hour earlier and managed to organize a hi-fi system.
For the next couple of hours people of all generations and races came with flowers, candles, pictures and various memorabilia...we sang, we cried, we hugged and danced. We celebrated one of the greatest icons of humanity...of music...of life.
