Coup in Honduras |
NO coup in Honduras - the world is misinformed
I cant believe that in the information era, in the XXI century, the international media does not check its sources before sending out wrong information !
As a honduran citizen, responsible and respectable, I have been offended to read the false information about a coup in Honduras. THERE HAS NOT BEEN SUCH event. What has happened is that JUSTICE has been served, the constitution and Honduran law have been respected and our democracy has been protected from illegal actions instigated and promoted by Mr. Manuel Zelaya Rosales when he was President of the country. The Supreme Court of Honduras along with the General Attorney's office authorities had ruled as illegal, the activities conducing to a general survey to be held today in the country. He was repeately alerted by the conscequences of not upholding the constitution and laws, as he promised to do when installed as President; and so today, the Supreme court and the national congress requested his detention by means of the armed forces. This decision was taken by the 2 other independent branches of Honduran government and the armed forces only obeyed the authorities, upheld our constitution and legislation. Mr. Zelaya Rosales was to be arrested or resign. HE CHOSE to resign and leave the country.
The general population is happy by these patriotic actions and feels safe and protected with the presence of the military forces in the streets of the main cities. We have seen peaceful and calm actions from the armed forces and in less than 24 hrs. have observed and evidenced civilized transition to a temporary democratic government according to what is stated in our Constitution, until general democratic elections are held on november 29, 2009.
There has not been any violence in our country today, people have peacefully been in their homes, attentive of the developments and announcements of the National Congress and recently from our new President: Mr. Roberto Micheleti. We are content, and we feel relieved from the uncertainty and risk that Mr. Manuel Zelaya and his cabinet had imposed on the honduran people. I can assure that at least 90% of the honduran population in the country as well as outside our country will sleep calmly and will be happy to start a new work week, with hopes of working together towards insuring the continuity of our young but solid democracy. The other 10% are weary, yet soon will realize how wrong they were to follow and believe the deceiving Mr. Zelaya Rosales
Furthermore, we are alert of the current international threats from President Hugo Chavez about working together with Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and Mr. Manuel Zelaya Rosales to continue disrupting our way of life in democracy. The honduran people are united, and will not tolerate interference from any outside forces. We have already suffered 3.5 yrs. with Mr. Manuel Zelaya and the impressive influence of President Hugo Chavez..
Please come to Honduras, gather information, interview people and tell the world the REAL story of what is happening in Honduras. Today has marked the end of the worst presidency in our history and there are clear evidences of the irresponsability and unlawful activities of former President Zelaya.
Honduran people are proud of its armed forces, of our National Congress and of our judicial system .
