Palin's future is about as dim as she is

Who in their right mind steps down as Governor of a state with a year and a half left, with hopes of running for the presidency of the United States in three years?  Well, it appears that the rather ditzy Sarah Palin does.

Not much shocks me anymore, not the death of Michael Jackson, nor the fact that my ears now have more hair than my head.  Nope, I can say with some level of certainty that I'm seldom shocked, until today.  What on earth is Palin thinking?  There has to be something else, something that hasn't hit the press, that caused this.  And, the burning question is, why now on the Eve of a long weekend?

I have never been a big supporter of Palin, not since her unexpected meteoric rise in the Republican ranks following her introduction as McCain's running mate in the 2008 presidential race.  I have always found her to be somewhat disingenuous in her manners and speech.  She is one of those 'beauty queen" types who smile too much and never really have anything of substance to say.

Now, I am sure that I will get plenty who will disagree with me and that last statement.  There are surely those who will point out her stance on abortion and all the other key, hot button issues for those on the extreme far Right.  But, that's just what I mean when I say she is not genuine in her views or her rhetoric.  I have trouble with someone who on the one hand professes this huge "faith" and then on the other openly uses her looks and her "gun toting, down on the farm, "you betcha" false persona to openly woo anyone and everyone.

I shudder to think of this woman in the White HOuse.  She has NO idea of what it takes to run a nation, she can't even keep her committment to run a State for one entire term.  What happens if, Odin forbids, she is elected President and things get dicey, will she just announce on the eve of Independence Day that she plans to resign and turn the leadership of the free world over to her vice-president.  I don't know about you, but I want to at least elect a President who has a record of sticking with something, other than shooting innocent moose, being runner-up in a beauty pageant, having a bunch of kids she rarely sees, rearing a daughter who gives birth out of wedlock,  and having to go to several colleges just to get a degree.

Oh, she'll make the talk show circuits again, and she'll make an attempt at a run for the Presidency in 2012, and maybe she will get enough of the hard core Christian Right Wingers to throw her enough money to mount a challenge for the Republican nomination for a short time, but the reality is Sarah Palin's fifteen minutes of fame are OVER.  She should be grateful that her fifteen minutes ran a little longer than most of the other former beauty queens.
