Save The Coral Reef: Don't throw that tiny piece of candy wrapper into any body of water
By tracing where the water in this drainage system in my village goes, we can see the connection that poses a great threat to the coral reef. This is very important to remember that even a small candy wrapper that you throw into any body of water will eventually end up in the open seas and into the coral reefs that surround coastlines in my country and 6 others that form the Coral Reef Triangle that had been the center of attention and discussion in the recently concluded Manado Conference in Indonesia.
And those countries that do not have coral reefs, garbage is still garbage. Anything you throw in any body of water will float and will go to the open seas as we have seen hundreds of miles of garbage in the open seas that has been so harmful to fish and marine species and needs to be immediately cleaned up before we lose so much of our marine life.
So think small but imagine big that little things that will create a big problem is right there in our midst, in the drainage system, in the canals, open sewers, and that if this accumulation reaches a scale that will be so difficult to tackle that we will be in danger of losing an incredible and significant resource and that is our sea and our coral reefs which supplied so much of our food resources. We need to be more vigilant. So think small, don't throw that tiny piece of candy wrapper into any body of water.
