Remembering Michael Jackson |
Forest Lawn Drive closed to traffic for MJ funeral (repost)
NOTE: This is a repost of an earlier iReport that had problems with uploaded images.
The media presence was growing here slowly, but relentlessly over the past week. I frequently commute through this wooded route tucked away in a busy part of the Hollywood Hills. The Forest Lawn cemetery is located right next to Warner Brothers' studios. As recently as yesterday morning, media activity was substantial, yet understated. By evening, the crowd of people and media vans were overflowing and starting to impede traffic. Los Angeles Police Department officers were starting to turn away pedestrian traffic. By this morning, the entire route from Universal Studios to the freeway exit was closed to all traffic except what appeared to be participants of the funeral procession.
Images:
1. The Forest Lawn freeway exit was closed on the morning of July 7th before the Jackson memorial event.
2. Media presence at Forest Lawn the previous morning of July 6th.
3. LAPD turning away pedestrians on Forest Lawn Drive past WB studios later that evening.
4. The media crowd expands on the night of the 6th.
5. The media presence by the morning of the 7th.
6. LAPD closes off Forest Lawn drive by Universal Studios that morning.
