This iReport is part of an assignment:
Tech talk |
I will be changing Operating Systems, and this is why
I use Windows for right now. I am looking for a new Operating System to go along with the new computer, that I plan to purchase November - January. I have many reasons for this, but the biggest reasons are:
1. Microsoft has tried to sneak stuff into their Operating System that I do not appreciate one bit. Case in point the plugin for Firefox, that was installed when you updated your .NET Framework. This happen I guess around a year ago. This plugin would of left my Firefox browser in-secure with the ability for Web sites to quietly install apps on my computer. Gosh I hate Microsoft for doing that.
2. Security is really lax in Windows. I am sick of having to download four or five software to keep Windows safe. I am sick of the way Microsoft has approached taking care of the security end on Windows. As fast as they patch it, then you find out something else is broke. Some of these security breeches have been severe. I can't take it any more.
3. Still on security aspect of Windows... I am sick of patches breaking my computer. I have spent hard earned money having my computer repaired after Microsoft broke it. Or hours glued to my computer trying to repair it myself.
4. I am sick of all of the proprietarysoftware. I have spent gosh way too much to have a nice working computer. Just to have these companies to come after me year after year. I added up all of this software, and I have spent over $2,200.00 total for this computer which is now five years old. This does not include Internet Service. This is only the software. So in total the computer I have now has cost me in excess of $3,700.00 now add the internet service, I can assure you it is over $5,000.00.
5. Privacy need I say more?
6. Bloat ware. Today we need better software options with new computers. Stuff that counts. Like security software, graphics software, and for those that need it... lets install a text to speech software on that box. Concentrating on the person that will use the box, instead of the software vendors makes better sense. Taylor the computer to the individual, and get rid of all of the garbage.
It is time for a change. I do not know if the Google Operating System will be the one I will choose. Time will tell. I am looking at all of my options. Mac, Linux, and the new Google OS. For which I would like to point out... Google's OS will only be available on netbooks. I am not a netbook person. Unless this changes, then my new Operating System will not be Google Chrome. Plus many of the reviews online for the new Chrome are not very favorable.
