    Bo Diddley remembered

    Who Do You Love?

Probably my all-time favorite rocker, Bo Diddley, has left us. I first saw him at the Roxy Theater in Pacific Beach about 1977 and have been a fan ever since. A true original and a giant of an artist, he inspired everyone. I later saw him open for the Clash at the height of their game in Santa Monica in 1978 and he all but stole the show. He later blamed that tour for a bothersome tinnitus he suffered from till the end. "Them Clash boys was LOUD!!" he'd later say...I last saw him at a Disneyland show with a silly revamped "Paul Revere and the Raiders" but he held his dignity and embarrassed them with his undeniable charm and his famous "Bo Diddley Beat". Buddy Holly could have never written "Not Fade Away" and The Who would have never gotten on a "Magic Bus" without that beat. I'm proud to have seen his shows. "Bo Diddley is a Gunslinger"!!
