    Relay For Life 2009

From the Ireport Hub in Second Life, Vickie Maidstone

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

With less than a week to go, this years signature fund raising event, the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Second Life will be held on July 18th and 19th starting at 8a.m. slt on the 18th and go for twenty four hours nonstop to the following day on the 19th. Already the fund raising efforts has broken records, more teams, more lindens, a fighting spirit unlike last year, and I gotta tell you events leading up to the relay have been going pretty much nonstop as teams raised over $220,000USD and the relay is still ahead. I can tell that this year's goal is gonna be met and it will put those who look at what virtual communities such as SecondLife CAN DO!!! WOOT!!! Yes, I am excited, I am humbled that even my part is helping to raise funds to find a cure for cancer is being done. I can say without a doubt that this year's event has showed the real world what can happen, does happen with people connect thru virtual worlds and put aside all differences to share in a common cause. I will be reporting thru out the relay and will have a wrap up report with the final totals, plus footage and images when time permits me to go around and look at the different builds being put together by the teams, so be looking for my special events report this week from Relay For Life of Second Life 2009.
