This iReport is part of an assignment:
40th anniversary of a man on the moon |
Halfway around the world, we also watched the man on the moon
I don't remember all the details since I was only 5 at the time but halfway around the world, I was in the Philippines with my grandfather. I was told we were gathered around the big, black and white console TV. It was morning, close to noon in the Philippines when man first stepped on the moon. I did not fully understand what was going on but whatever this was, it was a very important occasion. When you're 5 years old, cartoons take a priority. As I got older, I became more interested in the mission. I had model rockets given to me as presents and I was always fascinated by the mission. I loved reading books about the missions and going through all the photographs. I enjoy the documentaries better than the Hollywood versions of the missions. Space travel continues to intrigue me.
