SotoMayor's Confirmation Hearing Raises Questions About Our Values
Republicans would have you believe that an activist Supreme Court Justice would not be in the best interest of the United States. They don't want someone who would legislate from the bench.
Others want someone who is compassionate when they hear both sides of an argument in order to come to a humane decision.
It has been my experience that many of our laws are inadequately written and many times immoral in nature. Time and wisdom often overturn these types of laws, but who is the gatekeeper to sound the alarm when this is the case.
The Supreme Court is many times the last best hope for Justice when lower courts have failed the test. Do we want a referee that simply determines whether the law applies or someone thoughtful and insightful that determines whether the law should apply and how it could be better?
What's your opinion?
