Seven Aboard
Yes, still driving our gas guzzler. But with a family of seven, a van is the most logical choice of transportation for us--if we want everyone in the family to have a seat.
The only alternative is to leave someone behind, and I don't think any of our kids would volunteer to skip out on a family outing.
That's not to say fuel economy is not important to us. We considered getting a hybrid before we bought our Honda Odyssey 2005. Unfortunately, a hybrid van was not yet in production. Instead, we looked for a van that was "relatively" fuel efficient. The Odyssey fit the bill.
Yes, large vehicle means large total at the pump, but it's a small price to pay to ensure our family travels as a family. No regrets here. And no one gets left behind.
