Travel Snapshots: Paris |
Amalfi / Pompeii / Herculaneum / Naples
My wife and I had the opportunity to live in wonderful Italy for a year and used that time to travel around the beautiful country.
The first two pics are from Pompeii. They are called the Lupanar which means brothel. The first picture is a fresco from the Lupanar and the second is that of the interior. The walls even had names of the clients. It was considered a way of life and not looked at indifferently. It was a surreal experience walking through those rooms from 79AD and before.
The third picture is a small scale model of Pompeii at the National Archeological museum. The planning of the city, layout of houses and its interior is absolutely magnificient.
The next three pictures are from Amalfi! The coast is breath taking. Ravello is a must see to stop, pause, dine & wine! The last picture was shot in the city of Amalfi. The lady got interested in peppers of all kinds...from the mild to the really spicy. The lemons we found there were the size of cantaloupes or small watermelons! Tasting limoncello is a must.
